I purchased a FF MK 4 with a 2011/2014 Coyote at 35% complication. I'm working on the Driver side foot box where I have started to pull my hair out trying to understand the panels. Working on drivers inter footbox; decided to install the motor to check for clearances on the heads and headers. I think the headers are OK (about 1" clearance) however the head only has 1/8 clearance. It looks super tight. Is this correct? Should I modify/purchase a new inter panel where I could gain more clearance?

I would like to purchase a new front drivers side footbox panel, maybe the inter panel (more clearance) and a blank dash? Is there anyone out there who i can contact or is recommended?
Also the steering shaft is rubbing against some of the plastic valve covers. Thinking if I could push the lower steering knuckle downward toward the rack which should drop the shaft away from the valve cover?

Koni shocks? Why does FF install the red koni's upside down? It puts the coil/ride height adjustment screw towards the top of wheel well, harder to adjust??
Thanks for listening; this is a great site for information and some very talented "Master Builders"!

Yes, the Coyote is tight. Unless you have a really old Mk4 kit, the sheet metal you have provides the existing normal clearance. Especially on the driver's side. What is the serial number of your kit?
What motor mounts and do you have a 1/2" spacer installed? The complete kit comes with Energy Suspension mounts. And with a Coyote installation, standard practice is to use a kit that Factory Five provides where you take the mount apart and put a 1/2" spacer inside. This helps with clearance and perhaps with the close interference you have with the steering. If you can tell what you have, a picture could help us confirm. Also, there's a plastic wire tie piece on the corner by where the steering column passes the LH Coyote head. The Factory Five instructions show removing that piece. It's that close...
The red Koni shocks can be installed in either direction. So there really isn't an "upside down." It's either body up or body down. Body up for the front is pretty normal and really isn't an issue for adjusting.

The tight fitment on the driver side is normal. The steering shaft shouldn't be touching the steering shaft. maybe you don't have the spacers in the motor mounts.
The shock are mounted that way for clearance.
FFR carries the spacers if you do not have them.

Welcome to the forum 997 Turbo! (one of my fav cars in existence btw). If you don't have the FFR spacers I think I have an extra set somewhere. LMK if you want them and I'll dig it up. I also echo the above comments. Coyote is tight. Shouldn't touch shaft. Shocks are fine. Get spacers if you don't have them.

Thank you for your reply. I was hoping to hear from you. I have been researching your 20th Anv. build, I can say your are a master of your craft! Very clean, will documented, loads of help.
As for the serial number I believe its 8322 based on the vin stamped into the frame.
The Coyote package was purchased from Forty; from trans to crank pulley. I have the 1/2" shims installed along with the Energy Suspension mounts. This first fitment with only the motor is to validate header and head clearance and all the wiring lengths for sending units/Alt on drivers side, on passenger side would be battery positive to disconnect HAAT's then jump to the power-on side, back to the starter along with the tan/grn start wire. Also on the pass side Im running the main Ford harness ground back down to the 4" tube with the org cooling fan wire.
Going to remove the header, raise the motor up just enough to remove/pull the ford wire that's attached to the head and block and get it out of the way. Also I want to replace the front D/S panel with new, the current panel is pretty beat up and see if I can move the steering column bearing inside the foot box.
Hope I can PM you in the future.
Thank You,
Jeff
