My question is about items purchased in advance of the kit arriving/build starting. For instance , I purchased a Tremec TKX from Summit and I am wondering am losing time on the warranty for something I purchased now and won't actually be able to use for several months? What is everyone's experience in this situation or advice?
FYI delivery day is Saturday, the excitement builds.

Unless the warranty states otherwise, you're pretty much locked into the purchase/receipt date as the starting date. I have heard of some engine suppliers giving a grace period for builds that doesn't start until the engine is installed and running. But typically time limited and not usual from what I've seen. I routinely see guys buying a bunch of stuff before their kit delivery. I get it for long lead items. But for more easily obtained items (the supply chain situation seems to be improving...) best to wait until the kit arrives and the build is underway. Let's you check things more closely plus avoid costly mistakes or mind changes. It happens.

Good luck with your delivery and build.

That's a question you should address with Summit.

This actually caused me a lot of stress, I ended up waiting to buy bigger ticket items, especially electrical until just before I thought I would need them. Got lucky on a few things (fuel pump that sat on the shelf for like 3 years but still worked, stuff like that). It actually drove me to buy more stuff used, since I knew I was building slow there wouldn't be a warranty when I got to that point anyway, so might as well save a few $$ and see what happens.

I always did my best to bench test stuff when I got it if possible. I would put temporary power on it, see if it roughly appears to do what I think it should do and is at least not DOA.

Worst case I just hoped that some vendor would have pitty on me if I got unlucky and be willing to work with me, but luckily I never had to go down that road.
