Folks,

Now that I am awaiting my engine, I have had to turn my attention to other areas of the build and at least start some planning. I have the blank dash from FFR, a lower fill panel from ReplicaParts and a lower console from Whitby Motors. I have looked at a lot of build threads from the forum and before I start trimming our cutting holes in the dash or mounting the filler panel and lower console, I need to make sure I have not missed anything that will require me to drill out rivets.

To set the context here is a from view of the Dash and Front Console plate:
185776
Note how the lower dash fits firmly against the dash and the transmission tunnel cover. I do have sides for the lower console that will box the unit in between the dash and tunnel. A picture of the console with sides is shown on Whitby Motors website: (https://www.whitbymotorcars.com/product/center-console/)

View from the rear will show the amount of dash panel that is above the dash hoop:

Driver's Side
185777185778

Passenger Side
185779185780

Here is the Replica Parts Under Dash fitted withe other components but not installed
185781185782

Is this OK and I need to trim the excess above the bar on the dash or am I looking at this wrong. I know I have added too many different parts, but I need them to house display, switch bank, radio and the FFR headlights and key switch.

Thanks for the help in advance.

The standard practice is for the dash aluminum to be 3/16" below the top of the 3/4" square tube hoop at its corners. It appears this will place your steering column to the high side of the cut out, but that's okay. With this, you shouldn't need to trim anything.

Thanks. I had seen that information on other posts and I believe FMAN showed that he had the dash above the hoop. What I was trying to explain was with the lower center console slid into place (first picture), the dash cannot come down further and the under filler panel is where it should be to connect to dash. Hopefully on of the Jeff's will comment on this build question.

You are fine where its at! I just did this on my build, you are way over thinking it. It looks like in pics 3 and 4 where it shows the ends you could even up the left and right but other than that your good. Also, do not trim the top of the dash that is above the tube!! Not sure what you are covering your dash with but when you do your initial fit of the body you can see if there is any trimming needed.

Great. Thanks. Sometimes I do overthink these problems and you folks bring me back to reality
