Coyote accelerator pedal mount location in Coupe. My frame seems to have a welded in bracket for the Coyote Accelerator pedal. I received what looks to be an accelerator bracket in my kit. Do we no longer need to use the supplied bracket and simply mount the accelerator directly to what is welded into the frame next to the steering column? Thank you in advance, jdwlaw@gmail.com

Not exactly sure what it looks like these days, but if I remember correctly, you mount directly to frame and the bracket is unused. I believe the bracket is for mounting drive-by-cable setups with the FFR supplied pedal.

Thank you, Jim. My frame has a plate welded into the foot box area next to where the brake pedal is supposed to go. One of my backordered items is the pedal box which has been missing in action for the past 6 weeks. I hesitate to install the Coyote accelerator pedal till I get the pedal box completed. The project continues into uncharted territory. Regards from Virginia.

I had the pedal bracket powder coated all pretty and now it is a paper weight. I did not see any need for it, since as you said it looks to be part of the frame now.

Yeah I think that's the same as mine— the Coyote pedal should mount directly to that plate welded to the frame. And I think it would definitely not hurt to have the pedal box in place before you do any modifications to the Coyote pedal. Keep in mind a couple of additional things while you modify and mount the pedal:

1. Make sure you also have the steering shaft installed as it can (and usually will) interfere with the pedal. I had to do some additional modifications to my pedal to get it in the position I wanted and to not interfere with the shaft. Keep in mind the DBW electrical connector as well— on mine it literally is only a few millimeters away from the shaft and just barely fits.
2. The pedal also comes very close to the carpet on the trans tunnel side of the foot box. It doesn't hurt to mockup and attach a swatch of the padding, sound proofing and carpet you plan to use in that area. Mine was too close for comfort and I was very concerned about the pedal getting stuck on the carpet. So I ended up cutting out and sewing a plastic mat in that area— EdwardB details this in his build thread as well.

As you can tell, there isn't a lot of room down there and the instructions I think are a bit on the conservative side of the modifications and tinkering you'll need to do to get the pedal to fit properly (at least with Coyote Gen II pedal— not sure if anything has changed on the Gen III pedal).

I definitely would not attempt to finalize anything in that area until you have all the parts available to test fit. Tolerances can be in the single digit millimeters (and less) in that area.
