View Full Version : Lower radiator hose routing

I know in the manual they show the lower radiator hose going under the X shaped part of the chassis, but I don’t understand why as it seems that would just expose the hose to more risk of damage. Would this routing work for the lower radiator hose? Any reason not to do it?

LS is a whole different game. I don’t see any reason not to. Do whatever works and is cleanest.

Isn't that the thermostat outlet? If so you are flowing the water through the radiator backwards? Never worked with a CHEBY:rolleyes::p

FYI, LS coolant flow diagram
cool liquid flows into the thermostat housing, backwards of the old school engines

The 1st time I worked on an LS, the water routing really threw me for a loop. Thermostat at the inlet??? That's crazy talk!! So I thought. ;)
Turns out , quite a few (if not all?) modem motors route this way. It actually makes more sense to me now. The motor gets hot, thermostat opens to let in cooler water.

:) like I said, never worked on one. Learn another thing today, just like the distributer is on the wrong end of the engine.

.. wrong end, and oddly over-sized too.. almost like they're compensating for something :p
