View Full Version : Body on Buck Question
Hello All,
Can someone provide the dimension A shown in the attached photo? I have a somewhat limited space to elevate the body and buck into.
Thanks to (I think) Mike Bray, as I stole the picture from his build thread.

I measured 25" from the front surface of my plywood panel to the furthest forward point on the body nose. But my plywood body buck upright looks slightly forward of the one in the picture (mine is not quite centered in the wheel arch, instead appearing inch or two forward of center), so maybe add a couple inches to that measurement for that.

There's not anything critical about the body buck dimensions. You can make dimension A anything that's convenient. If you're concerned about moving that front brace so far back that the front end sags (large dimension A), put a third brace in to alleviate your concern & lift from the middle brace (the trade off, of course, is that the buck will weight more). Bottom line: if the body will fit, you can build the buck however you like to lift it.

The reason I asked is that I am somewhat space limited. I have approx. 2 feet more than the body length between some hard constraints in the garage ceiling. I know the buck isn't on center with the body, so I'm trying to figure out how far off center it is so I can mount my lifting details appropriately.
Thanks for the replies!
