Tailgate trimming question

When I got my kit I found significant gel coat chipping on three edges of the tailgate.

I reported this to F5 and their response was "it gets trimmed".

Is that your experience with the tailgate? Up to 3/8 inch gets trimmed off three edges?

OR should the tailgate get replaced or repaired?

Yes, it gets trimmed. I can’t say exactly how much though. If it’s just gel coat and isn’t gone when trimmed, it’s a simple pass with body filler by whoever does your body and paint. No need to replace for gel coat alone.

Thanks for the response. I'm just trying to tie up any loose ends with F5 and the tailgate was the last potential issue.
