Has anyone had success drilling a five lug pattern on 8.8 4 lug axles?

Much easier to by conversion axles from someone like LMR. I got the axles, new bearings and seals from LMR for about $250.00.

Unless you have access to a machine shop it will likely cost as much as the conversion axles and the conversion axles are stronger.

There is a model of Ranger pickup that has 5 lug axles that are a direct replacement for 4 lugs. I don't remember details any more but that was how I did my first conversion.

Get the kit from LMR

You would need to drill the new pattern in the brake drums too. Suppose it could be done with the right jig and equipment.
Most use the conversion kits available. Both five lug for drum brakes and a five lug disc brake conversion were readily available when I looked last.

Good Luck

It's just too easy to call one of our forum vendors for the correct 5 lug axles, and the swap is pretty easy. LMR has them, and northracecars.com offers them, as well. I've used Northracecars.com twice for their 5-lug conversion. Easy, peasie. As some have mentioned, Ranger axles of the proper year work well, too, but I can't remember the year.

Not to mention, the Fox Body axle used drums out back. Worth upgrading to discs IMO.

You guys are right. I will just buy new axles. I have the disc brake conversion kit order with the MK4.

Thanks!
