Hello from Alaska, First let me say 'thank you' to the forum members. Second let me say the 'manual', YouTube, and additional downloads at FFR are anything but complete. Or, I have not 'broken the code' on nuances to the Factory Five Mk4 build. For instance, when replacing the rear wheel hub studs, the instructions note using a 'washer and Lug nut' to draw the wheel stud into the hub. I have looked for any type of Lug 'nut' in the packing list and cannot find any mention of them. Are they called something else, or do I need to go purchase them so I can attach my wheels to the Mk4?
Thank you in advance.

If you did not purchase wheels from factory five (like me), then you have to provide your own lug nuts. I followed edwardB thread and used lug nuts and washers with no problems. I got some temp lug nuts from Amazon. Ace Hardware should have some also.

Hop this helps.

Not to spend your money. But I ruined a couple studs using the washer method and drilling out an old lug and using it as well. I think was due to particular parts I was using. But I bought this cheap tool and it solved the issue for me. Also I would not use the lugs that came with FFR wheels just because I would not want to ruin them. You can pick ford lugs at any parts store for a couple bucks each. I would get a handful of these for pressing the studs in.

The lug nut and washer technique works just fine. A few tips: Use hardened washers and plenty of grease. Also use a sacrificial nut (it doesn't need to be a lug nut, per se), as it will get pretty scarred up. You may also want to consider grinding a small flat on the head of each stud to clear the rubber seal lip.

JohnK has it. Grind on the new lugs a little. Hard washers and go to an auto store and get a few lug nuts. Then pull it through.

If you know anyone with a press. You can also do that. I used a press. Either one likely takes the same amount of time.

Get used to not knowing the code. It takes a bit to figure the parts and fasteners out. And where it all is. It gets easier with experience.

Regarding the manual, it doesn't help matters that it references pictures and procedures that are from over 10 years ago. My recent build, when compared to the manual, has many physical differences. For instance:

The dash in the manual is the aluminum backed with vinyl, I got the new vinyl lined plastic dash
The gauge wiring in the manual does not reference the new GPS gauge set
I used an SN-95 donor engine, trans, and axle. I learned from the forum that this combo comes with dimensional "quirks" which I though FFR should have gave me a heads-up on.
Wiring harness instructions leave a lot to be desired too. It gives you a general idea, but not specific on many things. Such as routing the harness.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.
