Hi all,

Any suggestions where to look for door sills in order to protect that area?
Wish RussT was still around...

Thanks in advance.

I have sill plates from Russ and I think without something the paint will take beating. I think the new kits come with an aluminum plate so maybe check with FFR (shipping to Canada could be $$$) 3M film or make them yourself from a sheet of aluminum.

I looked at Russ' sills — which look amazing— but I really wanted mine to wrap around the corner to hide the carpet edge, and his don't. Factory Five actually has (or had) a set of sills that wrap around the carpet, but I believe they had the FFR logo on them (which I wasn't a fan of).

My solution? I bought a pair of stainless steel door kick plates from Home Depot and cut them to size and then made a DIY rounded radius sheet metal brake. Just make sure you have proper tools for cutting and bending stainless (I didn't at first and it was a pain in the ***). I think you can also get some aluminum kickplates from HD as well if you want to go that route, but they probably won't be as resistant to scratching.

Sorry for the handprints and smudges on them— haven't had a chance to clean it since the last outing. But a quick wipedown and they shine.

I too made my own split sill. I used aluminum 5025(I think). Used cardboard as a template and also made a 90 degree bend to cover the carpet.
Then spray painted the Daytina logo and finished it off with 3M film to protect it.
