Engine - Mount spacers / Oil pan

Hey everyone,

I'm getting ready to do my engine drop and in the process of scanning every bit of info I can from the forum, I'm finding a few people reporting issues with their oil pan sticking out about 1/4'' from the chassis. Some are solving it with spacers and others with a different oil pan. The most mentioned spacer is this 3/8'' Whitby spacer (https://www.whitbymotorcars.com/product/motor-mount-spacer-for-4-6/) but seems to be for 4.6L/Coyote engines and I have a BluePrint 347 (Carb'd, TKX, 2015 IRS).

If I go with spacers, what size, grade, and material should I get? I'm also guessing I'd have to get longer bolts. I'm concerned about other things getting out of what from raising the engine, though (clearance with the hood, headers, etc).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

My advice? Drop it in and see if you even have a problem…you may not.

If you feel the need to spend money on spacers, Amazon has some large fender washers that may be of use to you.

The Whitby spacers you're talking about for the Coyote (and 4.6 engines) are kind of old news. Factory Five updated their Coyote installation several years ago with spacers that are put inside the kit provided Energy Suspension motor mounts. But that's for those engines only. I've done several small block builds with the Energy Suspension motor mounts. No spacers required and as long as you have the appropriate low profile oil pan, you'll be fine. I agree with Jeff. Stab that thing in there.

X2 - I have a SBF Boss 427 that fit perfectly without any added spacers. Bought from Mike Forte. Told him it was going into a FF Coupe and he made sure it had a proper oil pan. I have about 3/8" clearance.

Factory five sent me an extra set of engine mount spacers. I'll PM you if I can dig it out tonight. I have no need for it so you can have it.

EDIT: sorry I misread your post. I thought you had the coyote engine. Sorry about that.

Alright, the drivetrain has been dropped. It seems the oil pan clears but before I get obsessive about measuring it, I want to make sure the engine is seated properly.

You can see a sliver of separation on both sides as you go toward the ground. Also, on the passenger side, the guiding pin seems to protrude a bit more through the bracket than on the driver side. Lastly, the bolt on the driver side seems a bit crooked.

Are these things typical or is something wrong? I don't have the A-frame in yet if that adds anything.

Until I figure out the pinion/driveline angles to determine the transmission mount spacer, I'll hold off from obsessing about the oil pan clearance. However, right now looks flushed. Maybe 1/16'' sticking out on the driver side?
