I have a 4 link set-up, Coil over all four corners. Would a front sway bar help with the minute corrections needed to keep straight The numbers for alignment are dead on. Running nitto G2's. It is more lie a slight wander. Would 3/32 versus 1/16 be okay. Just wondering. A MK I 25 years old. Ball joints replaced 7 years ago and new upper adjustable A arms.

Try 22 psi in your tires, all the way around.

I know the default on the forum is 22 pounds. (for all of the different vehicles) I read somewhere that the rule-of-thumb is 1 pound of air pressure for every 100 pounds of vehicle weight. Due to the fact that all of these cars/trucks do differ in weight wouldn't using the rule-of-thumb be a better idea?

22# for 17" and 18" rims, 24# for 15". I recommend 3/32" toe IN. Be certain that it is toe in, not toe out. Sway bar will do absolutely nothing for straight line stability but will exacerbate the car's natural understeer when cornering...not something that you want to do with a 4 link given their tendency to suddenly go from understeer to snap oversteer. Mk1s are prone to bump steer; measure it and then correct as necessary (too many guys just throw a bump steer kit on without having determined whether they even have bump steer).

I did a lot of changes to my Mk1 to correct the suspension quirks. On the wandering there were 3 things: 1: Make sure the steering shaft coupling clamps correctly on the rack pinion. If you have the type of coupling with a grub screw to tighten you will get a sloppy coupling. Unisteer make a good coupling with a split collar that grips all round the pinion and eliminates the issue. If you wobble your steering wheel and hear a faint clunk you have a sloppy joint. 2: if you have a power steering rack you need a later 99-04 rack with the stiffer torsion bar in the pinion spool. Earlier ones will let the wheels with big tires change direction slightly by twisting the torsion spring while the steering wheel doesn't move. 3: You may have the classic 4 link Fox rear end steering issue which will have the vehicle changing direction all the time. I only fixed this with a Panhard Bar.

Good luck.
