View Full Version : Is ********** Accessories Still in Business?

Ordered a cam wedge (hood lock) from Finish Line Accessories last week. Received an automated receipt. Tried to follow-up with phone and email, and have not been able to reach anyone.

Checked out their Facebook page, and their last post was from October 2020.

Does anyone know if they are still in business? Need to to know if I should call my credit card company and pull the transaction.

Thanks,

32J

Being a member here for 5 years, I'm surprised you don't know the answer to this question. Maybe Dave can add "**********" to the bad word filter and that'll stop their free advertising.

If you don't pay attention to what's going on, no sympathy for you.

Russian roulette with that guy, sometimes you get products same week others wait for months. Hope the odds are in your favor!

This is a good idea, Jeff! I’ll take care of it when I get back to LA after the weekend.

OR....now if someone sees a warning they won't know who it's about, they'll just wonder "what's with all the asterisks?"

Kind of like when FFR answered the complaints about the "perky butt" and fixed it then people started complaining because the license plate didn't fit---sometimes you can't win either way ;)

Or when people see their titles getting blocked they’ll clue in their rehashing something for the 20th time

Too bad there's no way to have a pop-up warning when the name is typed. LOL

To answer the OP's question, yes they are still in business. The better question might have been will you get your parts? I've seen tons of posts about people not getting their parts and no response from the owner. My personal experience on the other hand has been good, about 6 weeks ago I ordered a set of grommets for the front Quik-Jacks on a Sunday night and received them that Friday.

Some people have the ability to keep track of everything everywhere all at once. Other people, though, are not Elon Musk ;). There are thousands and thousands of threads on this forum, and being a new builder, I don't have the luxury of experience of knowing who the bad actors are. I don't use Facebook or Twitter, otherwise I may have caught some of the bad reviews. I did post a separate thread asking for recommended vendors for a cam wedge, and mentioned Finish Line, and no red-flags popped up.

This forum has a vendors page, which is great. Maybe we need a 'CAUTION' page or something for those that are not reputable, or somehow link to their Facebook pages if they have one? Not sure. But flagging the word combination for F___ L___ Accessories is a great start. Thank you!

In the meantime, I have some spare Aluminum plate in my shop and I'll see if I can quickly fab my own cam wedge with a locking set screw. I think the most difficult part will be filing the square hole to fit the hood lock bar.

Cheers,

32J

I recently created a thread trying to suggest a sticky to get the word out. It was about as well received as a complaint thread about them.

I guess suppression of the news is the way to go around here. Prepare for more threads about it then.

I think just let the bad publicity threads fly.

I don't think FFR would be prudent to put up a bad vendor list. They could get sued.

There is a sticky on how to search the forum that seems to go ignored, so not sure that would help.

I beg to differ. I search for information on a problem I'm having with my build, not who the troublesome vendors are. Many other people do the same.

The search doesn’t get used here anymore than it does on fb groups… otherwise posts like this wouldn’t be happening every week beating this already dead horse.

So true, seems everyone just wants the answer with out doing the effort. Sorta like the kid in grade school setting next to you always asking for the answer, who never studies.

Rich - I have a great yet sad story that I am reminded of from your analogy.

My junior year at Oklahoma State - I've got a Business Law class that is an elective within my Mechanical Engineering course work.

First day of class, in walks Dexter Manley who was a star defensive end at OSU and went on to play for years with the Washington Redskins. He sits next to me in class. That was the only day I saw him until the first test, and of course each test after that. He sits next to me in class on test days, and copies each and every answer I make in this multiple choice exam. The professor leaves the class once the exam is handed out, so Dexter is free to do this, and admittedly I let him do it to help keep him eligible to play.

In hind sight, perhaps not one of my proudest moments ... but it's a true story.
Dexter and I made a "B" in Business Law.

I have no problem giving anyone help, but I expect they should at least try first. In my experience you don't learn unless you try first, you learn as much by failing as you do by succeeding

The me of past would have done what you did.
The me of now would tell him to take a hike.
The me I wish to be would record it and blackmail him.

Go to cancel your order, guarantee they will respond instantly, ask me how I know!!

Or if you paid via paypal, file a dispute. That tends to get a reply (ask me how I know).

That's what we did and although the process was still slow we did get a response. The products I ordered were what I wanted but I have been looking to other vendors since.

I have to say the last order they were very prompt, maybe it's a bipolar business model????

Who was very prompt? I have no idea who we're talking about here.

I just placed another order today for a couple of "finish items" for my build. Fingers crossed! Although, I've place 4 or 5 orders with them and only one time was it slow.

Did you have success with Finish line in getting your part/ It is September and we are having the same issue.
