I'm working my way through the gauge wiring, specifically the engine sensors. Very simple setup, SBF, only two senders. I'm seeing wiring and connectors (those little black ones) for the gauges internal to the RF harness, specifically on the Dash Harness. I'm ALSO seeing individual harnesses for each of the gauges. Is there some redundancy here?

If I look at the sensor (oil pressure, for instance), it's got a unique 3-wire connector. There's nothing on the RF harness that connects to it, so I have to use the special gauge harness just for the oil pressure gauge. What's even more confusing is the RF harness only has one wire for oil pressure, and a ground, but I digress.

Regardless, can I just omit the RF harness wiring and go from the sensor straight to the gauge? This applies to oil pressure and water temp. I'm not reading oil temp, and the fuel level also has that special gauge harness but I'll be cutting into that one to use the RF harness wiring since I'm not running another cable to the rear of the car.

Thanks everyone.

Wiring just like you said will be fine. That’s how I do them all.

Cool, thanks. I can do some housekeeping on the harness while I'm at it then. I'm not a fan of useless wires in the loom, unless there's a future purpose.

I guess it makes sense. FFR doesn't know what gauge pack you'll be using so to keep things simple they told RF to add the wires even though they're redundant.
