Hello everyone. New to the FF Forums and kit car world. i've been around cars my entire life. my dad was a mechanic and classic car enthusiest so i learned from him (and Google/Youtube lol).
Recently sold my last project, a 1966 F100 shortbec. It was a frame off restomod complete build. I've loved these Cobra roadsters since I was a kid so I decided to reinvest and order one. I ordered the complete kit at the end of February and was given a complettion date of June 24, 2023. Talked to Stewart and he said it may be a couple weeks before they deliver since I'm located in Florida.
I've been prepping for the delivery and picked up a Gen 2 Coyote and Mt82 trans from a wrecked 2016 Mustang GT. Went through everything, cleaned, and replaced the typical stuff. Also went ahead and built my body buck and have been reading a ton of stuff to learn. My shop is pretty much ready to go. I already had a pretty good assortment of tools. I'm a Mechanical Engineer by trade so I also design and fabricate my own custom parts/accessories when needed. I have a 3D printer for prototypes. Figured I'd introduce myself and throw up some pics. Looking forward to getting started on my build and learning from you guys.

Welcome to the madness! With a garage like that you're really way ahead of most builders. Good luck and keep us informed on your progress.

Congrats!
I'm confused about the completion date. I ordered mine in December last year and have a completion date of late August. Oh well, I still have plenty to do to get ready in the mean time

Welcome. I received in late March after waiting 10 months. Seems they are caught up. That's great for you. Mine was ready 3/4 and delivered to Vero Beach FL 3/18. Very nice garage and very exciting.

Similar to my path. Sold the 68' El Camino to finance the Roadster. Almost a year from order to delivery for me.
Congrats and welcome!
So jealous of the garage btw ;)

I know what you mean. When I called last November to see what the lead time was they told me 8-9 months. I sat on the idea of ordering the kit because of that but decided to go ahead around mid February.
I was suprised when I got a copy of my order and the completion date was June 24. I guess the supply issues were resolved and they get caught up a bit.

Thanks brother. My garage was a long time coming so I went all out and built it the way I wanted it. That 2 post lift was the best money I've ever spent. lol
Makes things sooo much nicer.

The MT82 has a couple of things that have to be addressed and the shifter location is one. It also uses a Guibo joint on the output rather than a slip joint. This has to be changed to a companion flange and then use a driveshaft incorporating a slip joint.

If that's the case we're not talking the same color. The one I priced recently is loaded with color changing flip flop which put it over 3k/gallon.

Yes Sir.
I picked up the shifter relocation kit from FormaCars. I'll address the driveshaft when I get to that stage but I have done research on the connections.
The paint I priced was from Automotivetouchup.com.

I ordered it from garageflooringinc.com
It's 24"x24" squares that snap together at the joints.
It's mode of a hard rubber/plastic material and comes in multiple colors.
I'm really happy with it.

Thanks.
My friends give me grief all the time about how my shop is too clean.. lol
I use it as a shop but I always clean up when I'm done working so it doesn't get too trashed.

Excellent! Sounds like you're already well aware of what's required to use the MT82.
FYI, I was just at my PPG supplier to pick up some 2K primer surfacer and out of curiosity double checked on that paint price. I don't know what Automotivetouchup.com is quoting but 1 gallon of PPG Deltron base in Dark Matter Gray, Code HY, Ford M7470 is $3,207 after my discount.

Roger that.
Appreciate the heads up.
I'll probably look into it more in depth when it's time for paint.

Wow, you must be living right. I ordered mi February 23 and told completion would be August 19 and Stewart said to give them 10 days to 2 weeks. Can’t wait to watch your build. I ordered complete kit with IRS. Found a 1991 roller 302 and bored 30 over and notched so planning on building a 331 stroker and installing Tremec T5.

And oddly enough, I submitted my order about a month ago, and my expected completion date is July 1st. I confirmed that date with Factory Five, because I couldn't believe it.

Got the call from Factory Five yesterday to go over my order and make any last changes.
Still tracking for completion on June 24. I wire transferred the balance owed so it's officially paid for.. lol
I've restored several cars/trucks over the years but this is the most that I've ever spent.
Between the Coyote motor/trans and the kit I'm already into this thing $36k and I haven't even started ha ha
Oh well, been a dream car of mine since I was a kid and it's only money. I'll make more.
$36k with kit/engine/trans is actually really good, I was $32k just with the kit and stewart delivery. By the way sweet looking shop, having a lift will be a game changer building your Cobra. Looking forward to following your build journey.
