Although we haven't been here long, the forum has helped us get over the hump when we were stuck and frustrated. There is still a long way to go (already need to troubleshoot the fuel level), but today we reached a milestone - engine start. Thanks for everyone's input and looking forward to picking your brains some more in the months to come:)

A few things to note/I learned:

1) Oil filter: I have a carbureted BPE 347. I was doing the pre-lube with plugs out as they recommend and didn;t see oil pressure in my speedhut. I cracked the oil filter to make sure there was flow and there was, so I just tightened up again. When we got first start, you notice I told my son to check under the car...oil streaming from the filter area. Car back up on the lift and noted the oil filter rubber seal was all bunched up, ie no seal. I have changed a lot of filters over the years, never saw the rubber seal stick to the block. I suspect it was stuck, I dislodged it from the filter when I loosened checking for pressure, then bunched it up when re-tightened. Upon removal, the entire seal was free floating. New filter, no problem.

2) I was careless when placing the wires back on the spark plugs and left #4 rotated so it touched the PS exhaust header...it may be normal that some smoke will be present for a short time at start up from various sources, but if you see any smoke, verify where it is/isn't coming from.

3) Pressure test fuel lines: I pressure tested all of my fuel lines pre-install (AN hose ends etc) and made the pre-start test and start less stressful as they behaved as expected.
