Considering adding a 1" spacer to my rear wheels, I have seen a couple posts doing this on the Coupe. Has anyone had success doing this on a newer Mk4 with IRS? Would like 3/4-1" spacer. Assuming hub centric is a better safer option? If you have done this and have a product recommendation please post up a link. I am a little confused on what the stud length should be and thread pattern for rear wheels. I am using the 17" Factory Five Halibrand wheels.

I've used spacers on two builds. My Coupe and the recently completed truck build. Agree 100% only hub centric. For my Coupe with IRS (same as yours), I used Eibach 90.4.25.010.3 Pro-Spacer Wheel Spacer Kit, 25mm (1 inch), 70.50mm diameter, 1/2-20 thread size on the rear wheels. Very high quality although not cheap and availability can be limited. Because I couldn't find the Eibach's, used these from CJ Pony Parts for my truck build on all four corners: Coyote brand WHSP24 5450-5450-A, 6061 Billet Aluminum, Black Anodize, 5x4.50 - 5x4.50, 1.00", HC 70.50m, 1/2-20 thread size. Was pleased with the quality and more reasonably priced. The hub pattern is standard Mustang (5x4.50) and you want to stick with the 1/2-20 threads. Both of these bolt permanently to your existing studs with nuts provided in the kit. Then they have new studs for your wheels to mount to. Depending on your wheels, you may have to trim off your existing studs to be flush with the outside of the spacers. I did in both cases. Just be careful. There are a lot of "cheap" spacer options out there.

This is an Eibach spacer on my Coupe. I later painted black, but you get the idea. The Coyote spacers look very similar and mount the same way.

The reason you see people putting spacers on the Coupe is because the body is wider than the Mk4 by several inches and the IRS width is the same on both models. With the FFR wheels on a Mk4 you don't need them and will likely have the tire rubbing on the body.

I feel like my tires could be pushed out another 1/2" to 1" and not have any rubbing issues. I believe the 18" FFR Halibrands are 1/2" wider than the 17" Halibrands and they do not have any rubbing issues but maybe this does not have any affect with the offset of the wheel.

I have used the same as EdwardB. They are not cheap but they are really well made and work well. For me hub centric is the only style I will use. Another install option I have used is knock out the studs that the Al spacer comes installed with, install longer studs in the OE hub, and just slide the spacer over your new long studs through the holes that you knocked the studs from.
