I just received my FFR Vintage Gauge set and have been looking at the wiring for the last couple hours and it is a bit confusing.

Can the sending unit wires in the RF harness be plugged directly into the back of the gauges? For example, can the fuel level wires in the RF harness plug directly into the back of the fuel level gauge? I compared the wires provided with the gauges to the wires in the RF harness and the plugs are wired differently in each.

1. Fuel Level: The RF wires are black in pin 1 and light green in pin 2 with nothing in pin 3. In the wires provided with the gauges there is black in pin 1, nothing in pin 2 and white in pin 3. Does that matter?

2. Water Temp: The RF wires are black in pin 1 and blue in pin 2 (middle) with nothing in pin 3. In wires provided with gauges there is black in pin 1, nothing in the middle pin and white in pin 3.

3. Oil Pressure: The RF wires are black in pin 1 and grey in pin 2 (middle) with nothing in pin 3. In wires provided with gauges there is black in pin 1, Red in middle pin and white in pin 3.

Notice that none of these match up so I need to know if I need to run the sending unit wires directly from the engine to gauge using the wires provided with the gauges? Any advice would be helpful.

I have attached pictures of fuel sending, water temp and oil pressure gauge plugs.

Thanks in advance.

For the fuel sender I did use the RF wire, but the green and white need to be on the same pin or your gauge won't read the level. Rather than repin them I just replaced with insulated spade connectors. For the other 2 gauges I bypassed the RF harness and directly wired the senders that came with the gauges thru the firewall.

I plugged straight to the gauge, RF connections left unused.

Scrubs, did you plug the fuel sender in using the wires that came with the gauges directly to the gauge? If so, did it work properly?

I cut off the RF harness level sender plug and soldered to my gauge wiring.

If you have the Ron Francis harness and the GPS gauges with the 3 wire oil pressure switch, you need all three wires to make it function correctly. You can either use the included send wire for the oil pressure switch or use the Ron Francis harness. If you use the harness, you'll have to splice in the connector from the included send cable and trace back to the gauge to make sure which wire goes where. I think I used the oil temp wire in the harness to act as the third wire and spliced to the connection at the gauge. Clear as mud, right? Hope this helps.
