Hey Gang,

If you are near Road Atlanta this weekend consider going to see the HSR Walter Mitty event.
We'll be there with some friends to cheer our pal Phil on as we have done for several years.
If you've never been to an HSR event, please know that this is one of their best races.

Shown below is a video that I came across that really captures the feel of "The Mitty!"

If you see this car in the pits, stop by and say hello to Phil and his Fantastic Mechanic Edward.

Garry Bopp sometimes shows up there so look for his #98 Factory Five Challenge Car.

Hope to see you there.

Steve,

I will be parking my travel trailer near turn 6. Hoping to have Elvis there but weather looks a little damp. We'll host a cookout on Sat. afternoon, weather permitting. Hope to see you at the Mitty.

My better half (Davey) and I will most certainly track you down.
Baby Go-Dad will be holding down the Fort (Home Front) while we're gone.
He's now a full fledged member of society (Tax Payer) and can't get off of work.

The Mitty was a ton of fun and everyone with our group had a blast.

We saw lots of fantastic races and cool cars in the pit area. Garry Bopp was there with his recently repowered Challenge Car and man does it sound great. Other Cobra folks were there too and all had great stories to tell about their cars.

Phil ended up in 3rd place in the Saturday afternoon race, but didn't make the final race on Sunday because of an issue he discovered during the race. In spite of having no rear brakes (Master Cylinder Failure) and very limited front brakes, because of the balance bar pedal assembly, he was able to place third just behind his friend Jim Downing. Ironically Jim was in the Yacco TOJ 206 too which was previously Phil's back up car that he had sold his friend a few years back. Phil simply was not using the car and he felt that it needed to be raced so he sold it to his pal Jim. The two TOJ's are identical cars and they were closer than close in spite of Phil's limited braking abilities. On a personal note I think Phil should have come in, but racers are racers and they know their cars and their abilities so who am I to judge.

Also, if you don't know who Jim Downing is, he made a living racing cars, but there is more, much more to know about Mr. Downing because he and his brother in law (Dr. Robert Hubbard) are the fellows that invented the HANS Device which has saved countless lives.

It was fun to see these old friends compete in these identical TOJ Race Cars.
