What parts are actually used from the donor steering column. The build manual is kind of gray in this area. The only thing I seem to find any use for is the turn signal stalk. Is there something else I'm missing here (be nice) ?

Thanks, Mike.

The steering rack and the steering pump if you want to run power steering. The ignition switch too. That should be it.

I originally kept the donor ignition switch but didn't like how it mounted. I switched over to the FFR ign. switch, inexpensive and much nicer. I did use the turn signal switch, cutting the stalk down a couple inches. Works well.

Does the turn signal switch get mounted to the new column? May seem like a dumb question, but I do not see it in any of the photos.

No. Generally those who do keep it mount the whole assembly behind the dash with the lever pointing downward. Obviously it will not self cancel.
Some other options you might want to research are Russ Thompson's column mounted unit or the self canceling electronic module from SIGNAL DYNAMICS (http://signaldynamics.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=36&category_id=14&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=77&vmcchk=1&Itemid=77). I've used this on a couple of cars and have been very satisfied with it.

The kit column isn't set up for any switch at all. You could probably fabricate something depending on the wheel to dash clearence you need. For that matter you could hang it under the dash if the lack of self cancel isn't a issue. Mine is set up on a toggle switch.

Thanks guys. I have looked into the Signal Dynamics unit and will most likely go that route.

It is a little bit of work, but i'm planning on using a probe turn signal setup like dv/dt's.

Just FYI: I wasted so much time trying to get the donor column to work as a complete unit without success. I ended up mounting the turn signal stalk to the frame as suggested in the manual. I just couldn't get it to work and look good, too. I learned a lot about the column workings though. Oh well. WEK.
