Hello,
I'm hoping to find someone on this forum who has recently registered a Roadster in Maine. I'm getting close to finishing my car (early summer) and have delayed doing windshield wipers, and can delay no more. I don't really want them and would love to not need to install them if the state of Maine says it's ok. However, like most states, windshield wipers are listed as required. I live in southern Maine and I'm looking for anyone who's had experience in this one way or the other. It's an expensive endeavor both in money and time, so any workaround ideas would also be welcome.
Thanks

I thought the same for Kansas and was prepared to purchase this. However, it appears in reading the rule....it said "in the event of precip...." which is a future event. I did not need it so i did not buy it. I had a 12v power plug in my lower dash in front of the tunnel for usb charging along with other accessories (i.e. heated seat switches, footbox blower fan speed controllers). Here is the link>>>>

I have the FFR wiper kit, but did not want to install them and got by without them during inspection here in South Carolina. I ended up buying some mannual clamp-ons just in case, but the absence of wipers never came up during inspection so I never bothered and they are still sitting in a box. You can also attach some boat/marine oriented wipers. Check your state requirements and if manual are sufficient, let me know. If I can still find mine I'll make you a great deal. LOL.

Windshield wipers are required in Maine, but the law is not very specific in how this can be accomplished. I have read about creative temporary solutions others have used, but I actually like the finished look of windshield wipers so I installed the Specialty Power Windows wiper set.

Food For Thought From The Dark Side:
1. If you ever sell the car, the lack of wipers will be a big issue.
2. Adding them in the future will be more difficult once the car is finished.
3. When you go to a hot rod run or car show, not having wipers screams:..Kit Car!
If for nothing else, the wipers make the car look more far more finished.

I installed them on my roadster here in ME. When I reviewed the reqs to get registered I also though a lot of whether so wanted them or not. In the end I went for it and no regrets. They looked fine, work sort of but then I did not drive in the rain.
