Depending on your dash layout (like mine), your speedo can be a bit difficult to get eyeballs on to an acceptable degree. No prob I'm thinking.
Just DL a speed app to the smartphone, invoke the mirror image HUD mode and place it on the dash in front of you. Instant heads up speed display and a bunch more info depending on how much GPS data you want to see (compass, altitude, trip timer, etc.). When I did all that and placed it on the dash- what??? I saw two distinct display images closely spaced. Ahh yes- double pane safety glass in the windshield. Well, the HUD mode is usable if you don't mind a touch of double vision. :-). I'm guessing Lexan replacement windshields don't produce this vision anomaly. Can anyone support this assumption? Not that I'm -ahem- going to replace my double pane windshield just so I can clearly read a smart phone HUD app.

Guess you should have planned the dash better lay out better? I have no issues

What you are seeing is the reflection of the inside surface of the inner piece of glass and the outside surface of the outer piece of glass. Because both pieces are laminated together you will not get a reflection off of the laminated surfaces. You can verify this by looking at the reflections of a double pane insulated window in a typical home. You should see 4 reflections.

...the inside surface of the inner piece of glass and the outside surface of the outer piece of glass...

Yeah, I was wondering about that. I don't get this issue with any of my "factory build" aka the Corolla, Santa Fe, CRX vehicles.

Try taping a quarter to the bottom of the phone case such that the edge of the quarter is flush with the edge of one side of the phone. What you're trying to do is change the angle of the phone relative to the windshield glass. If this test is successful, you can figure out how to secure your phone at an angle that doesn't give you the second image.
