Hey Dave,
The excellent electric car builders of evtv.me fame have been trying to get in touch with you with respect to developing an electrified version of the 818.
They're great guys and have a great track record of producing great electric cars. They're super enthusiasts on the EV front, hosted a one of a kind EV convention and know what they're talking about in the subject.
I think they would like to establish some form of communication with the intention of formulating plans for their 818 electric project. Their web show usually covers every step of building their electric cars and puts it out for free in a fairly entertaining format that I think is watched by many. They're extremely educational, every small detail of their builds is covered.
Obviously this could be a great opportunity to get some free advertising for the 818 but more importantly to have a great example driving around. Additionally they would also be producing great video documentation for building EVs based on the 818 design. I believe they'd even like to consider developing a platform so that other people could use their work to build their own 818 EVs.
I'm sure if you reached out to them they could speak much better for themselves than I can as just a fan of theirs.
I just wanted to encourage you to give them a call sometime and see if it sounds interesting to you. Personally I would love to see the high mpg version as an EV, my guess is they would probably enjoy building sooner rather than later an then doing a v2 build based on the high mpg model.
