quick question on checking electrical

I have the dash installed and want to check back lighting, indicator lights, etc. I don't have any fuel in the gas tank, and wouldn't want the pump to run anyways since the engine isn't in. what do you all do? Do you just pull the fuel pump fuse? Am I over thinking this? I generally try not to run pumps without the associated fluids.

I just unplugged it at the gas tank. Easy peasy

I pulled the pump fuse and hooked up the car to a 12v battery tender/power source with 10A capacity.

I would pull the fuse & test the other circuits.

I would also forget to replace the fuse, and then scratch my head for a few hours wondering why my first start attempt failed. :)
