question for you guys, how did you guys, for those who did, black out the trim on the windshield? did you take the it apart and get it powder coated or did you just paint it?

Took it apart and had it powder coated. Haven't put it back together yet.

I documented it in my build thread. Post 31 (disassembly) and 212 (re assembly). It's not that bad honestly. The PC has held up well on the road so far.

I just installed a 520 speed works Lexan windshield in a Mk4, it was easier than I thought to disassemble and reassemble the windshield frame. I would definitely recommend having two to three people to remove and install, makes a big difference to have some extra hands.

I second to Cerakote. I'm impressed so far with what I have coated. If you have access to a media blaster and use the air cure stuff, you can do it all at home.

That's what I do, and most of the air-cure products have a very high working temperature, even exceeding the heat cured products. In fact, I just ordered a quart of Glacier Black for a 42' pickup I'm finishing up for my wife.

Didn't take it apart, just taped it off and used Rust-Oleum Chrome Black Premium Custom Spray Paint. Cleared it and done. Durability is TBD, but it was cheap and looks good.

anyone have experience with the Eastwood 2k Rat Rod aerospray? It is a 2k in a spray can. looks appealing, but not sure if it is actually better or more durable than lower cost rattle can spray.
