Hey there! I finished my FFR Cobra about 17 years ago, and still going strong after 42k miles. I took over FFmetal several years ago and have enjoyed providing quality products to the FFR community. The list of items I sell is small, but the quality is high.
Here's what I can do for you:
Battery Box: This mounts the battery in back. These cars need as much weight in the rear as you can get. It also gets the battery out of the way and out of sight. Yeah, I know what you're thinking, it makes the battery hard to remove. Sure, it's a bit more effort, but if you only have to do every 5-7 years, who cares. With a helper to push from the bottom, it's actually pretty easy.
Firewall Forward: This moves the firewall forward 1.5" to give you more room for a heater and/or a glovebox, or electronics. Made with .090" thick aluminum, it's super stiff and sturdy.
Thicker Firewall: Made with the same .090" aluminum, it's a direct replacement of the stock piece, just way more sturdy (for mounting mechanical throttle linkages).
Tunnel Top: Same dimensions as the stock piece but made from .060" aluminum and NO HOLES. If you're not using the old stock T5 transmission, the stock piece's shifter hole is going to be in the wrong place.
Fat Tire F-Panels: If you're planning to run tires wider than 245s, these give you more room for all that rubber.
Take a look at www.ffmetal.com (http://www.ffmetal.com/)

I will vouch for the FFM battery box and thicker firewall. I installed both of these items on my MK4 (chassis #7300) and consider them both great upgrades! Quality, fit, and finish was very good. Would easily to it again.

I used the thicker firewall, tunnel top and fat tire f-panels on my build, and they are all worthwhile upgrades IMO.

Great products, I have no idea how I would have stuffed everything behind the dash without the forward firewall, and it is stiff enough to handle the mechanical throttle linkage

I have forward firewall and tunnel top. Both very sturdy and the forward firewall really lets you clean up the engine bay by running some of the wiring (rear harness) below the firewall. You also have much more room behind the firewall for that Rat's nest of wire, relays, etc.

Do a drop trunk kit
Nope, someone already makes those. I'm not gonna step on another vendor's toes.

Picked up a firewall forward kit and Fat tire F-panels. Probably will do the transmission tunnel at some point.

Russ Thompson made one, unfortunately he passed away in the last week. So a good drop trunk kit would be a great addition to your list of products. If you make a better kit, not really stepping on anyone's toes.

Half-way round the world, I have the battery box and fan shroud. Great quality and value. Thanks to Mike Forte for shipping those with my engine package, as I couldn't seem the aluminium getting here without damage. 2x plugs for 2x great vendors.

Russ's death will leave a huge void in that area. I don't know if someone else will pick up the products and services he provided.
I will be needing one later this year.

This is one of those vendors who services a niche market for our cars. All of the products he makes are a superior upgrade from the kit. I bought the trans tunnel top and love it. I wish I had known about the firewall forward before I had installed mine. It just makes life easier under the dash for mounting and getting your hands into.

I will be needing a Firewall Forward and trans tunnel top and a drop trunk so PLEASE add a drop trunk to FF Metals products.

Russ will dearly be missed! I'm still recovering from the devestating news! :(
As for a drop-trunk mod, reachout to i.e.427 (Frank) he makes a variant of the RT-DT. I believe it's a little bigger in length and depth too. Perhaps, you can order one from him?
As for FF-Metal, Bill is also a great guy! Like all the vendors out here, he has some really awesome products that I'm proud to have in my car! I have the firewall forward kit and would advise everyone to get one! The extended fw allows more space when adding more electrical components or whatever behind the dash. I got mine to accommodate the (ac- air conditioning) unit that I am adding in my build. I'm planning on getting the transmission tunnel top as well.

Just ordered the firewall forward and F-panel kits.

Vouching for FF as well. Installed his battery box and used his Trans tunnel to skin with CF. They are of top notch quality and specs!!

I purchased his drop trunk for my first car about 10 years ago. Is his kit still two sections you drop between the tubing? Any pics by chance?

I'm a HUGE fan of the FFMetal firewall forward. It makes wiring & heater ducting so much easier to fit into place.

ie427 mentioned in one of his youtube videos that he's not planning on making the drop trunks since it is rather time intensive but would be more than happy to share his blueprints to make one on your own.

Ahhh, my error. In all honesty, I know it's still somewhat early, but perhaps someone can speak with Russ' family and find out his wishes and desires. We all know he contributed a great deal to the FFR Family as a whole, and it would be beautiful to see his legacy offerings continue on under his family or some other (vendor) on this site. As I said, Godspeed Russ...
Now, to get this thread back on point, I just ordered the Transmission Tunnel Top! Thanks Bill, for all the great products that you offer! You, as well, are greatly appreciated for all you do for us!

I know him pretty well and can tell you he never said that. Just paraphrasing here but what he said is that he is not in a position to make them in any great numbers and if contacted he could "tell" you how to make one for yourself..................... No mention of sharing any blueprints or plans.

Doug,
I was actually thinking this too. I was talking to Russ about selling my quick release adapter with his kit but we just never made it happen. If his family is interested maybe someone can take some of his products on and make a donation available to Russ' family as they sell. Gives not only his work a chance to live on, but helps financially support his family in a small way. I still really feel let down over his passing. Guy was such a good steward of the community and this club is really only as valuable as the people who contribute.

LOL If I'd seen this before last night I'd have asked if you mind just giving me some directions on how instead of blueprints or plans. :)

saw this on facebook (not my car) but a vendor to create filler plates for the inner trunk would be good :)

Bill, are you making the straight inner drivers side footwell? It’s an essential piece for building a big boy roadster.

Great looking firewall with the polished stripes and engine turning!
Sorry, nope. We stopped making that part many years ago when FFR didn't have as good of welding jigs as they do now. The tolerances back then were pretty loose and my panels would often not fit well. Since then there just doesn't seem to be much of a call for those inner panels.
