Cool video crash. I did not realize how much traffic you guys need to deal with. I was also surprised by the disparity in speed through the field. Gotta hand it to you guys for staying outa trouble for 25 hours. It's not like you race with this field week in and week out to know who to trust and who to give a wide berth. But I guess after 25 hours cars / drivers get familiar... Or do they? With driver changes and all..
You should put the mic for the video in the engine compartment. :)

With many of the drivers coming from different places from around the globe, it is truly impossible to know who, or what talent level we are driving around. Sure, we know who some of the pro drivers are, but after passing your 100th Miata in the first few hours, you really don't know what to expect. Caution is absolutely neccessary for EVERY pass. Not having the ability to use 3rd gear or 5th gear made us dive under people more in braking than we normally would have, and we took more risks than we would have liked this year. Fortunately, everything worked out good. This is one of the reasons I say that this endurance race is actually more difficult than Le Mans or Daytona. There are many different experience levels, and WIDELY varying speeds of cars. Oh and not to mention that there is virtually no track lighting, and it usually rains, snows, or there is fog! I truly believe that this is the most difficult asphalt endurance race in the world. That Mercer has been able to stay out of trouble these last three years is impressive, although they did suffer a hit to the rear this year.
Yes the sound is always an issue. I actually dubbed in the rear cameras sound to both the front AND rear shots because it is mounted right above the engine. The front camera only got the sounds of the wind and the front splitter hitting the ground under braking. An external mic would be awesome, but I don't have one for the GoPro.

Don,
Missed you this year.
Actually I have very little footage this year because of the driving duties. I simply put two cameras on the car for the start and that was it. I didn't even have time to take those cameras off the car. Someone else did that for me.
A gentleman named Alan Yordy did take quite a bit of footage, and I think he is busy editing right now.:)
