In just a couple of days I'll be joining a friend to do an epic 5,000 mile drive across the country and back from south-central PA to the Golden Gate Bridge! I'll be making the trip in my Gen 2 Type 65 Coupe, an eight year build that's been heavily modified for road trip action. This will not be a Cannonball style drive. Rather a cruise including many segments of the Lincoln Highway, America's first coast to coast roadway!

A bit of the back story. Several years ago I joined up with Rally North America and participated in many of their events to support various charities. This inspired a love for long-distance road trips on the backroads of our beautiful country. In 2021 I teamed up with one of the founders of the organization to attempt a coast-to-coast cruise of the Lincoln Highway. He drove his 1970 Mach I. Since my Coupe wasn't quite ready I accompanied him in my 2006 Mustang. But before we reached Oklahoma we had to terminate the trip due to west coast forest fires and worn out rear axle bearings in the '70.

We were determined to finish the trip. But this time we are both leaving our Mustangs at home in PA. He acquired a 1977 Ford Maverick for the trip and I will be accompanying him in my Gen 2 Type 65 Coupe. Yeah, this is a little bit crazy, right? But it's a challenge that we are both working toward. Take a look at his You Tube channel "Tony's Fords and Mustangs" for details on his Maverick and lots of other things Ford. For the particulars on my Coupe see my build thread "Building Coupe 674" on the other forum.

I'll be posting up pictures on my Facebook page "Team Limer" and will follow up here as I am able.

Wish us luck!

P.S. to my friends in the San Francisco area. When I visited in 2019 with my Mustang I told you I'd be back with my Coupe. As near as I can tell we should be at the Western Terminus of the Lincoln Highway next Wednesday or thereabouts. It would be cool to meet up with some of the Bay Area Daytona Association (BADAss) again! Sad that Russ can't be there.

It was great meeting up with you both at Alices restaurant. What a great adventure! We didn't get the photo of all three coupes together:(

Nice trip. My wife and I drove the Lonliest Road in America (Hwy. 50) twice in our roadster (no top). Ate breakfast in Austin one trip and dinner in Eureka on the next trip. Great driving road!
