Hello Again...

I am on 3rd build ...previously new kits, from Factory Five...I live in Florida, a Craigslist ad pops up in my face...the gentleman purchased kit prior, and then ten years go by. "I bought at 70, and now I'm 80" for sale !!! Partially assembled...This is a kit from 2008 Mark III. I previously used donor harnesses.

Has Ron Francis harness, I have removed harness from car to review and reinstall correctly. I have found that there is a poorly crimped (NOT FACTORY) loose wire to the buss bar for the dark blue COOLING FAN, that was cut, spliced and crimped to "switched" buss bar.

Next to Fan Relay, I have removed from bus bar and removed the splice and ohm'd out end to end on that one wire. It is labeled Cooling Fan and the prints show that it comes from fuse block. My fuse block does not have a 30 amp fuse, and the bus bar does not go into the fan fuse slot.

WHERE DOES THIS BLUE WIRE GO ?

Thanks
Raf

Does he have EFI/throttle body like a Holley Sniper?? If so he may have used the EFI to control the fan instead of the RF circuitry. For the Sniper there are two fan leads that do this for dual fan set-ups where you can set the "on" temp for each lead. I did this and set it up like this:

Sniper Fan #1---primary fan triggers the fan on first
The RF fan circuit will trigger the fan at slightly higher temperature if the Sniper is being stupid.
Sniper Fan #2---secondary fan triggers an LED idiot light

No Sniper EFI...Holley carb setup...single fan...
i would think that the blue wire should be fused and then go to fan relay, but nothing obvious.
No 30 amp fuse (in fuse block) or inline fuse on this wire.
Thanks for input...

Raf,

According to Version N of the RF wiring harness documentation, you are correct. The dark blue wire comes out of the relay, through the 30A fuse, and then on through the front harness to power the fan.

This additional info is very interesting and clears up some things in my 33 manual. The thermal switch to turn the fan on is in the bottom tank of the radiator. The manual tells you to connect the negative lead of the fan to the switch and the blue wire from the harness to the fan positive. This would work if the blue wire had power all the time. Looks like I will need to ground the green wire or attach it to the thermal switch and ground the negative lead of the fan.

Indeed you do! I wish I'd remembered where I got it; I would have credited you.

No need for the credit. I am just glad that something I contributed helped someone out. I have so much help from this forum just like so many others!
