I came across these instructions from FoMoCo on 8.8 Ring and Pinion installation. I don't normally use instructions for this procedure too much, but this one has very good references and Ford part number of the shims/shim sets that one might need.
Instructions like these are not all that needed if you are experienced and doing a re-gear or rebuild,
But if you are building a axle from just bought parts it can be quite helpful.
