View Full Version : In tank Fuel Pump Wiring

I opted to switch from the external Holley that came with my BPE to an in-tank aeromotive. They also recommended I use their 30amp fuel pump wiring kit. Not really a wiring guy, so asking if my thought process is correct/wrong and opinions...
I laid out the rear harness and got to here:
182679
The aeromotive harness only calls for a switch activated input (the written section is actually pretty clear, even for an idiot like me):
182680
So, can I cut off the RF connector, and splice the tan-elect fuel pump wire to the red aeromotive, tucking the other (ground away)? The aeromotive circuit does terminate on the battery so the circuit should be complete?
Stepping back, should I even use the aeromotive wiring set up or just cut the RF connector off and add ring ends to the tan and ground wire from the RF and go straight to the pump +/-?
Appreciate any advice,
j
What connectors are on the outside of the pump/hanger? How are you controlling the pump? It should be via a relay. If you are running a Sniper, the relay is in the Sniper's harness. You can also use the Ron Francis fuel pump circuit that has a relay as well.

I am carbureted.
The hangar just has a + and - post.
The aeoromotive system has a relay (https://aeromotiveinc.com/product/30-amp-fuel-pump-wiring-kit/), but I also see the relay on the RF wiring diagram.
P.S. the aeromotive kit already comes put together, only requires hooking up the wires (unlike the pic on the link to it)

So for a carb, I don't have any hands on experience, but I assume the pump should run whenever the key is on? If so, you can simply use the RF relay triggered with a +12v power source ... likely the same for the other relay you have. The red connector can be removed and you can put whatever connectors your pump has. That is if you are using the RF relay. If you want to use the Aeromtive relay, jut wire it to power and ground and run the output to the pump along with a ground to the pump.

I think you affirmed my initial suggestion. I know your an electrical dude, so thay makes me feel better:)
