Hey Gang,

We all know that I'm likely the Most Rabid Chevy Fan on the forum. With that being said I came across this engine comparison the other day and it really is a fantastic Apples-2-Apples comparison between the beloved SBF/351 & SBC/350 engines.

The guys at Engine Masters really did a great job making these engines as identical in specifications as possible so take a look and share your thoughts:

Enjoy!

This represents a by-gone era, eclipsed by contemporary engines popular in this venue. This is the era I experienced in SCCA road racing but rules required our 289/302 SBF to compete with 327/350 SBC.
Vintage racing like replica building has thrown the original specifications away.
Ironically on this forum I saw it stated that the LS SBC engines are a copy of the SBF. Not for me to judge.
I will say in the case of the LS which has exhaust ports spaced like SBF, the LS3 requires 2.0 in primaries. I had to build headers to put that engine in a C5 Corvette chassis.

Both were basically designs that were almost 10 years old by 1969. If they really wanting to look at what was modern in 1969 around They have just compared a 1969 Z28 302 and a Boss 302. both with modern cams. (both were factory rated at 290HP at 5000RPM)
