Hi everyone. I am wrestling with the wheels on this build a bit. Will these work? What tires and tire sizes would you suggest?

<xpost from my build thread>

I am considering these wheels to go with my build. I haven't made up my mind yet, but, thought I would check with you all.

182399

Fronts: 18x9.5
Volk Racing CE28 Club Racer II Black Edition Wheel 18x9.5 5x114.3 22mm Diamond Dark Gunmetal (https://www.vividracing.com/volk-racing-ce28-club-racer-black-edition-wheel-18x95-5x1143-22mm-diamond-dark-gunmetal-p-152414468.html?cat=6424)

I don't know if a +22 offset is too close?

Rear: 18x10.5
Volk Racing CE28 Club Racer II Black Edition Wheel 18x10.5 5x114.3 15mm Diamond Dark Gunmetal (https://www.vividracing.com/ce28_club-racer-black-edition-c-17555.html?diameter=18&width=10.5)

15mm offset. I have heard/read that 18x11 is the preferred choice for the rear, which seems reasonable, but, Gordon Levy point me towards these wheels. Thoughts?

I have similar wheels and Love them! I have 18x10.5 on the rear with a 15mm offset - they seem good. My fronts are 8.5 and I did a 30mm offset and they look good. Once I complete the build, I may add a small spacer on them, but not sure yet. The first picture is before engine was installed and second picture with engine in.

Compare to the FFR offerings to get an idea. The MkIV body is tight to the tire in front so I'd be careful about adding width there especially if that offset ads the 1/2 inch to the outside. If it ads it to the inside the tire may hit the F panel which is no big deal damage wise but does increase turning circle a little..

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have learned a ton about wheels.
The online calculator that Dave suggested (above) is great.
Another good one to explain backspace is:

I am going to go with the Volk wheels as I need them for the Aero6 brakes.

And ordering them resulted in a series of phone calls saying that they won't be ready until August at the soonest and wont arrive at my doorstep until Mid November.

Sigh.

Anyone have a suggestion for a set of wheels for a largely blacked out build with aero6 willwood big brakes support?

18x9~ or so
18x11~ or so

Similar to Volk look and feel?

Danmas - Thanks for this thread. I'm also looking at a different set of Volk Racing Wheels for my build and this is helpful.

Regarding 10-spoke similar designs and sticking with semi-lightweight JDM brands, here's a couple to consider:
Work Emotion ZR10 (https://www.workwheelsusa.com/product/emotion-zr10/)
WedsSport TC105X (https://www.weds.co.jp/english/wedssport/)
Both brands have their own black versions

Not sure of availability of the wheels above, but from my experience most JDM wheel brands have painful lead-times. If your mind is set with the Volks I say good things are worth the wait!

Good luck on your search/build!

I went with Konigs. They actually showed up and they are pretty sweet. Paid about $1300 all in. I think they will be just fine.

I had those on my Miata, but in 15x8. Super light and strong.
