FFR no longer offers the Koni DA coilovers for the MK4. I know QA1 is an option, but does anyone know what Koni DA part #'s will work with the Roadster? Full disclosure, I haven't asked FFR or Koni yet.

Can't help too much. FWIW, the Koni DA shocks provided for my Roadster and Coupe are Koni series 8212. These: https://www.koni-na.com/en-US/NorthAmerica/Products/Accessories/Drag/. Unfortunately, they come in various flavors and I don't know which ones specifically are used. Perhaps even something custom for Factory Five.

Thanks Paul, actually that's helpful. To your point, while I should be able to find units that meet the physical dimension specs, I don't want to assume the valving is correct or appropriate. Wouldn't be surprised if FFR worked with Koni on these.

Back in the day the only option for DA Koni for a roadster was Koni 30s from Gordon Levy.

If worst comes to worst Koni can make shocks for you. You give them #s for dimensions, spring rates, car weights, suspension design, etc. One thing to note Koni has had in the past 2 different DA shocks. One had a knob each for rebound and compression the other you had to partially disassemble the coil over to adjust compression. I have used the DAs from QA1. I suspect they don't equal the konis from a high end valving point of view but they work very well and the two knobs are easy to adjust. I could go from autocross settings to street settings at all 4 in <5 minutes. Also QA1 has a higher ends style w/ remote reservoir but I have no experience w/ them.

I contaced Koni and they're not able to provide any info about the DA's they used to build for the Roadster. But to Craig's point above, they pointed me to one of their partners for a custom build. I'll just run the stock shocks and see what I want to do in the future.

Or just drop $4k for a set of Penske coilovers :p

The best I've had were Ohlins. Never ran Penske, but always wanted to.

FWIW, I was at FFR last Friday and was talking to Dave Smith. The topic of supply chain issues came up and he still can't get a commitment date from Koni for the double adjustable shocks. He indicated he is on the phone with Koni almost weekly and they can't give hime a date when his open order will ship.

Thanks for sharing. Maybe they will offer them again for the MK4 once the supply chain issues get resolved (if ever!).

We had this same conversation a while back. Although FFR and Koni have a long-standing relationship it’s like he said. “In the end FFR is a drop in Koni’s bucket” so when things go sideways and they can’t get components to build shocks FFR is going to have to wait.
