Now that’s it’s nice outside finishing up the final touches. Installed the aluminum piece under the door and went to carpet it and not liking the way it’s looking. Thinking of an aluminum 90deg trim piece or something to cover the transition area after carpeting it. What have other people done?182219182220182221

could always wrap it with vinyl or carbon fiber https://amzn.to/40rKQqf
Black Brushed Steel 5 Feet x 1 Foot Vinyl Wrap Roll with Air Release Technology (https://amzn.to/3ZvE5T4)
VViViD Matte Black Vinyl Wrap Adhesive Film Air Release Decal Sheet (https://amzn.to/3G3JRVg)
I did the metal angle trim you hinted at.

It covers the unfinished edges of the supplied carpet and won't wear out dragging your feet over it.

I don't have a picture of what I did and the car is at the painters but I made a trim piece from 3/4 x 3/4 aluminum angle. Looks kind of like this (https://darkwatercustoms.ecwid.com/Door-Sill-Trim-Raw-p474201) and pretty much identical to Papa's:)

Nice, exactly what I was thinking. What did you do with where the body mates with the door? Definitely different and I like it

I agree the raw edge of the carpet doesn't look the best. Carpet already attached? I had my local auto upholstery place stitch binding on the exposed edges before gluing in. Looks much more finished.

Similar to the others but I used a universal sill plate from Speedway

I plan on making a piece similar to what Dave (Papa) did. But instead of metal I am going Thermoplastic

I'm planning to do a combination of all of the above. I'm going to have the carpeted edge bound, and I'm also going to install a stainless steel sill plate but only on the front half of the sill where your feet actually contact that edge and cause wear. The back half of the sill is alongside the seat and doesn't really need any protection, IMO.

Mike,
Did it look like the DarkWater Custom stretched the vertical part so that it curved gracefully (following the door, instead of the frame)?

Edit: I re-read your post ... nevermind :p

You have the same trim piece on the fiberglass? I’m definitely missing that. What is it?

It sure looks like it. As I was making mine I was wishing I still had my shrinkers & stretchers lol

No that is the standard seal that comes with the kit. Nothing fancy, you should have a roll of it.
Stair edging from Amazon.

I used ABS plastic to clean-up the door latch area.

I fabricated the "door sills" from mahogany and stained to match the steering wheel.

I simply left the carpet off. My panels are all powder coated the same grey color as the chassis. No chance of peeling the carpet when dragging my foot across it. You can see the top edge of the vertical piece of carpet, but no one has commented in 3 years on the road.

OK Scott. I'll bite. Man that's ugly! Can't say no one has commented any more. :p
On a more serious note, hope to see you in lots of events this year. Your Roadster is amazing BTW.

Mine is not finished with carpet, had it PC'd... for reference here is what it looks like with a trim piece on it.

You got me Paul. I plan to make as many events as I can. Especially looking forward to the day at the proving grounds.
