View Full Version : In-Tank fuel pump security

So when I install my fuel pump into the Pro-M fuel pump hanger, do I need to add a clamp-band or something to secure it in place? It seems relatively secure as it takes a bit of pressure to press it between the vertical arms, but I'm curious what others have done or recommend? Seems that vibration over time could dislodge it?

No, no clamp is needed on the pump. It sits in-between the vertical arms and the inlet fits through the hole in the bottom of the bracket. Once the inlet/filter is installed, it secures it in place and it can't really go anywhere.

The stock Ford pump and hanger, the Pro-M hanger is based on, had a rubber boot around the pump itself to cushion the pump and add thickness to secure the pump within the hanger arms. I always add a piece of EPDM rubber, cut from a sheet, to mimic the same thing. If you don't, the sock mounted to the bottom (not shown in John's photo above) can come off if the pump moves in the hanger. We talk about it in the video here:
