Most of the panels look pretty good given how quickly I guess they put them on.

This one. Not so good. I am guessing it should not look like this.

Anyone has a picture of their LH footwell? That will verify and i'll figure out how to get it into shape.

Thx. Tom

Mine looked similar, maybe not quite this bad, I ended trimming off a long thin triangle of material to improve fit.

+1. I had to trim a bit off that edge and massage the angle of that bend to get it to fit properly.

We just posted a video today talking about that very panel. I don't know what's going on over at F5R, but something in their chassis fitting and welding has changed. They need to either adjust the laser cut panels or fix the fitment issue in the chassis. Panels on our most recent build fit like absolute garbage.

I got my panels last December, I'm guessing they were cut sometime in the latter half of last year.

My panel made by FFR sometime in 2013 looks like MB750's.

Mine was identical. We had at least that much overlap, if not more.

The good news is that this is covered by carpet, so it isn't seen at all when completed.

Some people cut it.

We elected to just bend it. I ended up using a hammer to make it flush. You can see our solution in

Ignore the rats nest of wires, we cleaned it up. Also take note of the amazing steering wheel we used for go-karting (wheel was backordered).

The good news is that if you decide to cut or bend, it is hidden by carpet.

This is while we were installing carpet, and that area looks fine now.

We essentially did that panel last. We had everything riveted in place in the cockpit except the transmission cover. Then we used some muscle to make it fit.

The bigger issue is the gap at the top. We had to use a glob of silicone to seal it up. Luckily it isn't very visible from the engine bay.

Thx everyone for all the notes and pictures. I pulled the box apart and as I loosened it up, it relaxed, and I could see the panel that pushed it weird. My plan to fix it is to start at the seat pan and sidewall covering the shifter and up to the panel that sides above the dash and hangs over both sides. I will get those square, sitting, and fitting well. Then build the box back. I'll leave the side and top off so I can work on the pedal box.

U watched ie427's video and the perspective is helpful. FF got it close and delivered. Now it's time for me to get it where I want it to be.

That's awesome! We didn't realize it was an issue until all the panels were riveted, so we opted to bend it. If you can tweak it so it fits better then it's perfect!!!

I know it is the next panel over but...be sure to make it so the top of the tunnel can be removed by drilling out rivets along the edges that overhang the sides of the tunnel. Also if you can, glue the carpet to the top of the tunnel piece and then stretch it down the sides to fasten w/ velcro or screws w/ trim or fender washers. This way if ever needed, you can reasonably easily remove the top of the tunnel.

Hi Everyone. I got that area close and the foot box back together. Chasing this created another issue. See the first picture. There is a gap between this and the frame. I am guessing this should be attached to the frame. correct? I can bend it and make it work. If I do that, the foot box looks good and the panel on the inside is perfect with no cutting. See picture 2.

I can get that tab to fit but only if I release the inside panel that started it all and cut it. I did not want to cut it.

I think it will work either way. Does it matter which way I go? Appreciate the feedback.

Thx. Tom

The area where you have the red rectangle---you don't have the firewall in place.

Firewall goes against the chassis and then this footbox side and top panel attaches to it. When you actually start attaching aluminum you'll find that when things give and flex it will take up much of the discrepency.

Ahh. first official "Dooh". Yes. That will take up a bit of the gap. I have a firewall forward piece. I think it is a bit thicker and I will install it. I should be good then. Thx Jeff.

Hi CraigS. Yes. I plan on making the trans top removeable. I'll take a look. Thx for the note. Tom

The firewall forward does not help as it installs differently. I'll put a piece of aluminum in there and pull the tab close and call it a day.

I drove in Gel-coat for about 6 months. The bend in the footbox rubbed my leg just above the ankle. I'm 6'2' and can't straighten my legs completely.

I straightened out the bend and made the DS look more like the PS. After removing the bend, the panel was too long. Ended up cutting it vertically, overlapping and riveting it together. Also had to make a new piece to cover the gap under the hood.
