Maybe post some pictures? The standard power setup setup now is a manual rack with an electric motor assist in the steering shaft between the firewall and steering rack. That doesn't sound like what you're describing.

Sure. The power steering setup is optional. Just takes slightly different steering shaft pieces that bypass the area where the electric power assist module is located. Do you have the build manual? It shows both manual and power.

I'm not aware of a power steering rack for the Hot Rod or Truck (same one). Don't believe going hydraulic with an engine driven pump, etc. is an option. If you have the Factory Five electric power steering option I assume it's this one? https://www.factoryfive.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Electric-power-steering.pdf. From their parts page? https://www.factoryfiveparts.com/34075-electric-steering-parts/. That's the system I installed in my truck build. It's pretty straightforward. I don't know anything about what brand it is, what separate parts are available, etc. Including the wiring harness. If this is what you have, Factory Five should be able to tell you if replacement parts are available.

I'm the wrong person to ask. I'm a huge power steering fan. Changes how the car drives and would do whatever it takes to get it working. I've done multiple builds and only one didn't have power steering at the start. It was retrofitted.

Can you post a few pics of what you have? Do you need some help on how to post pics?
Without the electric assist steering takes some effort, I’d recommend you use it.

There are some pics of the ElectraSteer that came from FFR at post 110.
I mounted the motor on the firewall, didn’t want the electric motor hanging down below the engine oil pan.
The hinge was replaced with a solid mount after I got the correct angle figured out.

If you don't have a manual, you can buy/download one from FFR. Or DM me with your email and I can send you the Gen1 and Gen2 ones I have (wont be latest, but also unlikely to matter much)

Curious, whats your chassis number? Gen1 or Gen2?

I also see some power steering instruction downloads on https://www.factoryfiveparts.com/instructions/

P.S. I don't have power steering, and I use the car just fine. But I'd try it if I had the money *shrug*

I added electric assist after driving the car for several thousand miles. Really helps in tight situations and also being 72 helps my aching arms!
