View Full Version : Using PTFE for fuel lines

I am planning to use 3/8 braided PTFE lines for my feed and return fuel lines. My question is not so much the durability of the lines, but the bend radius if I need to go around a 90 degree bend. Has anyone had issues bending 3/8 PTFE without kinking it? Any suggestions on how to get around tight bends with PTFE?

I believe there are AN fittings for that line on Summit's website.

I used -6AN PTFE for my fuel lines. No problem in my bends until I got to the carb. AN fittings there. HotRodFuelHose.com has a great selection.

-6AN PTFE is around a 3" bend radius.

I think it's physically really hard to get the tubing to kink. Make gentle sweeping curves to the lines and you'll be ok. there are only 3 90* transitions, I think.

Check the manufacturers specs for whichever brand of hose you plan to use. Aeroquip states a 4" bend radius for their -6AN PTFE hose. They're pretty stiff and you're not going to get a nice tight bend with them, but with some planning you should be able to get a decent route.

Like Ted I also used HotRodFuelHose.com for my fuel flex lines. Good stuff at a fair price and seemed to be a fairly tight bend radius.
