Opinions: What is better for fastening the hood hinge to the hood? The provided rivets or riv nuts? If riv nuts what size is best?
Thanks all.

Take it from a guy whose painter thought riv-nuts would be a good idea, and stick with the rivets. Riv-nuts will crush & pull through the fiberglass, leaving you with hogged out holes that are useless for attaching the bracket. I'm going to have to spend a LOT of time aligning & epoxying the brackets to a finished hood.
Once you have the brackets riveted on, leave them in place for painting. They'll look like they were made to be part of the hood.

Rivets. Be sure that the shank is exactly .5” long; longer will contact the underside of the top layer and make a pimple on top and shorter won’t grip securely.

Rivets, and bonded with HSRF. Painted over and looks great.

You can't really use riv nuts, they will hold the bracket off the hood, leaving a gap. Everything said by Jeff and John is 100%. I have always used the method suggested by boat737, except I use a different bonding product.
