I built my car with a Mustang pedal box so I could have power brakes, which also means I have a cable clutch. The brakes are great but as I get older that clutch gets harder to push. I’ve thought quite a bit about coming up with a way to convert to a hydraulic clutch but never got beyond thinking about it. The other day I was looking through a parts catalog and saw that McLeod clutches makes a kit to convert the Mustang pedal box to a hydraulic clutch. They offer a slave cylinder kit and a hydraulic thowout bearing kit. This will probably be my winter project next year. I thought I’d share it with everyone in case I’m not the only one that did not know this existed.

Fortes Parts connection also has a kit. Not sure if it compatible with a mustang pedal box. I debated for a long time over hyd throw out bearing vs. external slave cylinder. I finally went with the external slave cylinder because if a hyd. throw out bearing ever fails you're pulling the tranny. If you have a lift it wouldn't so bad but without one it's a major PITA. Already been down that road twice.

Fortes web site says the FFR reservoir will not work with their slave cylinder kit. Anyone had any experience with this . I have the 302 engine with the T5 Trans

I think you mean the master cylinder and not the reservoir. I just had to upgrade my cylinder to a bit larger.

Bobl,

Could you simply pull the clutch pedal and replace it with something similar to unit shown below?

Is there room enough to hang the pedal and put the master cylinder on the front of the dog house?

I a.ready have the wildwood master cylinder from FFR. Ordered it specifically for a hydraulic clutch. Are you suggesting a larger master cylinder
