A quick question to those who have use the Breeze or other dead pedals that are mounted only to the outer sheetmetal of the driver side footbox. Have you had any issues with support and rigidity? I'm a little nervous to have something that can be pushed upon by a foot (e.g., a whole lot of force) that is only held in place by sheet metal alone.

Any comments or suggestions? Just wasn't sure if people were adding backing plates or anything like that would provide additional support - or if using bolting it to the panel using three riv-nuts should be sufficient.

I installed the Breeze dead pedal and did not realize how much I would really like it. I did it thinking since everything was open I might as well as I have heard mixed reviews. But it has been a great addition. Followed the instructions and it is solid with zero wiggle or flex. Glad I did it.

Edit: I am 6'3" and installed adjustable seats. So I have the seat completely to the back and a slight bend in my knee is comfortable with access to the pedals quicker with the dead pedal.

To be honest, I just tuck my foot past the clutch and rest my foot against the pipe on the front of the foot box! You could put a backing plate in the area. Use some adhesive to really stabilize it!

I used a piece of 1 1/2" angle iron covered with non-slip tape. It's not too pretty but it's functional and one of the better additions I’ve made. I installed it after I'd been on the road for a couple of years so I used some hefty sheet metal screws to attach it to the foot box aluminum. I was concerned about the aluminum being strong enough to support it without additional backing but it is still hanging in there after 20 years and 43k miles. I use it all the time but it is narrow enough that I can slip my foot past it and stretch out when I feel the need.

I made my own dead pedal from the hood pin latch that still comes with the car. Bolted only through the sheet metal with no issues. Remember, you’re not really stomping on this, just resting your foot.

With the right amount of mounting surface I would have absolutely no reservations about a dead pedal mounted on the side panel. But the frame seemed like a good mounting place for me at the time; here's a photo of that option if that helps.

That certainly is a testimate to the strength of the panel I suppose. good to hear.

Good point, I guess I was thinking more along the line of the force that could be applied, not necessarily what would. I know I use force with my foot for stability during track days just because I have terrible seats in my 944 - so maybe the harness will eliminate that issue a bit in the cobra.

I do like the look there - and plenty solid. Do you find that is positioned to far to the right (e.g., to close to the pedals)? or does the spacing work pretty good?

I don't even have the 'expanded' DS footbox, and was surprised that I had plenty of room with the pedals as is. The primary spot where the wider footbox would help me is on the right side, not the left. Ideally I'd like the accelerator to be a bit more under the inside of my right foot, but not a big deal.

If there's too much crowding, in fact, I'll shift the brake and clutch pedals left one hole, and there seems like there's still plenty of room to use the dead pedal.

John... You are such a craftsman. I am always impressed with any picture you post with your build. It is coming along beautifully :)

I mounted mine directly onto the footbox with 4 rivnuts, has been fine for two years now and 4900 miles. It is a piece of alum stock I bent and put some grip tape on. About as simple as it gets but functional and very easy to rock your foot back and forth between clutch pedal and dead pedal.

I used the Breeze mount, feels very solid - Initially I thought that the extra brace was bunk, but it really holds things tight as it grabs onto the 2" square tube
