Fox Mustang (1987-1993). For a street car I recommend the non-sport suspension version which will be 3.0 turns lock to lock.

To follow up on this point, does anyone know where to find a published chart to decode the I.D. letter/number markings on the Ford steering racks? I have 2 racks, SPR-DB and SPR-DL which I THINK are SN95's but can't be sure. Specifically, what does the "SPR" designation mean? Apparently the second pair of letters indicate the model of Mustang; SH= 1999-2001 base, -ZM= Cobra with IRS, etc. but what about the rest of the "alphabet soup"? The Web won't give up the codes to me.

Easy way to differentiate between a Fox and SN95 rack is by the steering shaft connection; Fox is splined and SN95 uses a tapered “pyramid”.

Thanks. I was hoping to nail down which model Mustang my racks came out of. It seems the valving and T bar on the pinion shaft are not all the same, some offering smoother assist as pressure increases. If I find this information I will post it for general knowledge.

This is truly great to know info especially since Sir Jeffski does a lot of Auto-Crossing.
