I mounted my IRS center section today. Followed the instructions for where to mount the vent tube but wanted to ask if ther are other suggested options before I drill/rivet the insulated clip. Pic below is the current layout per the manual.

pretty much what I did, make sure you put a hose clamp where it attaches to the pumpkin just to be sure it doesn't pop off - not a big difference, but may help alleviate any seepage if the hose pops off

When I do mine the plan is to install some sort of filter into the open end of the tubing.

I also posted on the other forum. I've used the Ford FR3Z-4A058-A vent tube on mine. It has a check valve on the end. Same as used on Mustangs. Not sure it's 100% necessary. But the Ford engineers seemed to think so.

I purchased the same Ford vent tube with the check valve that Edwardb mentions. It's a heat-formed plastic tubing and I didn't like how it was fitting so I tried to re-form it with a heat gun. Pro tip: don't do that. Totally ruined the plastic tubing. All I was really after was the check valve anyway, so I cut that off, formed a short piece of 3/8" nicopp tubing and mounted it like this.

Check out these breather/check valve options, I believe they're for Nissan diffs and they're cheap. Difference between the two being the barb size:

Bryan I routed my vent hose exactly like you did and used this vent cap below which has worked good.
