Can hydraulic power steering work in a 33 Hot Rod? My donor engine came with a power steering pump, and it appears the steering rack is Mustang equipment, so what prevents me from switching to a power steering rack and routing new lines from the pump to the rack and run the factory hydraulic steering instead of the electric assist? Pardon me for maybe missing something, as my kit is still on order, so I do not have it in front of me at this time where I may see the obvious answer. Factory power steering seems so much more reliable and cheaper than aftermarket electric assist.

Hopefully someone more familiar with the car will also jump in, but I believe its an issue of room, there just isn't a lot between the narrow frame to run a ps pump in the stock place.

To the best of my knowledge after building 2-33's and a 35. NO, Hydraulic P/S is not an option. No room. Electric P/S is so much better in many ways, IMO. Almost all new vehicles have electric P/S.

The hot rod does not use a Mustang rack.

The hot rod does not use a Mustang rack. It is a specialty item that FFR provides. If you check the length of a Mustang rack I believe you will see the difference. The electric PS works great. I used one from E-steering and it fit perfect plus allows for adjustment of the amount of assist.

Thanks, I did order the electric power steering with my kit, but this was just one of those things you think of at night.
