View Full Version : Looking for replacement front upper-control arm rear adjusters

I replaced the front upper-control arm front adjusters with these 5" units https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Aluminum-Tie-Rod-Sleeve-5-8-Inch,2087.html when I built my MK4 roadster 10 years ago. The last time I had the front-end alignment, he said the rear ones (original FFR) were maxed out on their adjustments. As I'm doing some refreshing I wanted to remove and shorten them about 1/2 inch before I had the front-end re-aligned, but I boogered one up removing it. I thought, no problem, I'll just replace it with a shorter version (3 1/2" ?) of the front ones. Problem is, 5" is the shortest they offer.
So, thinking of buying the 5", shorten it myself and re-tap it.
Or seeing if FFR offers shorter ones and shorten it 1/2" as originally planned.
But wanted to ask if there is a better option (?) (I searched and couldn't find another 5/8" tie-rod sleeve). (what does FFR supply with the kit these days?)

This is where I get UCAs from. Get the number here but usually order from Summit. BUT...these parts are all 3/4" not 5/8".

Given the vintage of Mark’s car the originally supplied UCAs are 5/8”. Speedway has them…but so do I ;)

SPC only sells/makes the 3/4" ones, and found out when I called their tech line. I went through this on a customer car a few years ago. I guess F5 outsources the original SPC stuff. I ended up getting some 5/8" AFCO sleeves and "modifying" them to fit.
