Just getting started on my build and wanting to get my snakes in a row.
I am building the 289.
I have been reading a fair amount but still up in the air ... what is the census on exhaust coating. Paint, Ceramic. Jet Hot? (I can almost see Jet Hot from my house)
Whatever I was going to do I wanted to get it started now while it is fresh on my mind and not forget and suddenly realize I needed them.
Thanks guys!

I powder coated then ceramic coated mine. So far so good.

Folks that used high temp paint report it needs to be redone every couple of years. I had mine ceramic coated. So far so good as I enter season 2.

I'm a fan of SS304 and ceramic coating inside and out.
I have painted with high-temp, wasn't happy.
Not a fan of wrapping, especially steel. SS should be better. Lesser grades of SS will corrode just not as fast as carbon steel. The wrap holds moisture.

I used JetHot on the side pipes. 4 into 4 headers from FFR were already ceramic coated. 5,000 miles and 3 years and looks great.

My BBK headers came ceramic coated from the factory. Slight discoloration from a bright silver to more of a grey. No issues otherwise, such as rust, flaking or peeling, etc.

On the side-pipes I used VHT paint for mine over a decade ago, and they still look great. The preparation prior to painting, and the curing process, is the key to long lasting great results. I used a good quality heat gun to preheat the side pipes before and after spraying for the curing process. It tool some time but was well worth it.
There has been no rust, chipping, peeling, or discoloration from day one.

I bit the bullet and made an appt with Jet Hot. Getting the pipes done and then the quick jacks powder coated by them as well. Any other parts I have missed that might need coating of some sort?

I had my headers and side pipes ceramic coated. I would do the side pipes the same again. Headers I would just leave stainless or use header spray paint. I track my car and the heat from track sessions caused the ceramic on the headers to fail and its flaking, so not worth it for me.

If going with Jet Hot, they offer several grades of ceramic coating with different temperature ratings. The higher temp coatings come in fewer colors and are a rough texture so not a good choice for side pipes but definitely a better choice for headers. If you're going with a SBF where the headers are more visible and having them look nice is important to you, I'd go with one of their ultra extreme 2500 coatings. I know lot of folks that have gone with their "classic polish" coating on headers or motorcycle exhaust and been disappointed that it turns a dull grey after a while from the heat. It might be OK for side pipes but definitely not for headers. On a coyote the headers aren't visible at all so I'd just leave them bare stainless steel.

I am going with it for the side pipes only, the headers are coated dull chrome already. I just want a lasting black and I don't mind if it fades a tad, I am going for a classic race car look.
I would love to have the body paint pre messed up .. but that is more expensive! ;)
