ok - my son and I went through the instructions ANOTHER time just to make sure, we adjusted to be identical to the manual - the driver side seems to sit lower and is tilted more toward center where the passenger side looks parallel to what we think they should look like - anyone have similar situations? is this 'normal' as I know the cars aren't exactly mirrored side to side

btw - just to note, the mounts are adjusted as high on the frame as possible and as far inward as possible for now - tightened but not super wrenched on

As long as they're assembled correctly, IMO really nothing more to do at this point but to adjust as needed when installing the hood. Don't overthink it at this stage. I guess I can see a difference but doubt it matters. They should align as needed later. BTW, I assume you've seen multiple posts to not use the wavy washers that FF provides? Can't tell if you have them in there or not. The whole setup works better without them. Pick regular washers for each shoulder bolt connection that allows the nut to be tightened but still allow movement.

they are the same but opposite. Thats what the slots are for. I wouldn't worry about it until the body and hood is on.

ah good reminder! Those wavy washers are horrible! I'll swap them out, easy enough... they bind up rather easily when assembling Thank you!

LOL I know he'll have to reset them, just wanting to get them on the car and not worry about the parts getting misplaced at this point LOL

I’d have bigger concerns about the height of the coolant tank and hood clearance but maybe the photos are deceptive.

Heff? Are you sure? I don't see any photos of the bunnies showing off the cars you have painted.... :)

here's a pic of the mount for the reservoir, it aligns with the bottom of the 3/4" rail, other's have posted this was their design as well

this shows the top of the reservoir about 2 1/8" above the side rail, and pretty much same height as the intake tube

here are the hood hinges with new M10 washers instead of the wavy ones, these seemed to align things a bit better but still slanted a bit - maybe not a big deal

Huh, the plates should be on top not on the bottom but maybe there is enough adjustment it doest matter. Also you want to shim the arms between the plates to eliminate any wiggle so they close with repeatability. I used machine shims till I had no perceivable movement in out and out but moved with a slight resistance so they could bed in. Mine hood closes smoothly and stays in place like a bank vault. One thing to note is the hood opening is offset to the chassis centerline.

This is incorrect. Toadster’s are oriented properly.

My brain must have failed me I checked my car and in-fact Jeff is right. I just have not paid attention to them since they where installed a few years ago. Good catch.

On final assembly I needed to clearance one of the hinges slightly to get everything perfect. I cleaned this up and repainted, then clearanced the other side just so it matched and was symmetrical

Just an FYI for anyone who is interested—-if you have to clearance the hinge arm it’s telling you that the front of the body needs to be raised.

That is all, carry on :)
