I look at all the FFR Cobras that are for sale on BaT. (Just like to see what’s out there). I notice quite a difference in price. The one thing I notice is the fit & finish really makes a difference. For anyone who is looking for a body shop/paint guy (or gal), find someone who has done these cars before. I’ll bet over half the ones on BaT, no one bothered trimming the wheel well lip, that 3/8-1/2” piece that was part of the mold. Not sure why, but it’s one of the first things I notice when looking at one of these. It’s like the “sore thumb” to me. It needs to be trimmed significantly. I only know this from my painter. He had done numerous other FFR Cobras. Anyone can paint, well anyone but me, but it takes someone who knows these cars to do a really nice job on the body work.

It's the doors...My eyes always go to the door tops first, probably because I know how much work it takes to make them match the body and then get them to flow into the cowl rather than stop short as they do "out of the box".

Here's how I finish them:

And a rather disappointing effort from a pro shop on a very high profile car:

The wheel lips you mention are a close second, with part of that being to reshape the contour to flow smoothly and eliminating the wonky back and forth "elbow" where the front curves down and around to the oil cooler scoop.

Jeff,

My painter, Bart Jones, said the same thing about the doors. Hardest part!

Doors, Gaps, Body Dives & The Cowl!
I've had tons of great comments on the fit and finish of my car and it's all Jeffski doing!
I hated that phase, but thank God Sir Jeffski told us (Sammy & Me) what to do and how to do it.

PS:..Those pics look very familiar Sir Jeffski, very familiar indeed.

looks like the raffle car from a few yrs ago. yikes, that door definitely doesn't match the contour of the cowl. you can also see the mismatch along the front of the door as well where it meets the body w/ the gap being off.

There is a big difference between painting the body and perfecting the body. Jeff was a big help when I painted my cobra.
