Hey all,

Does anyone know the MFR and color code for the 15th Anniversary car on this page? (https://www.factoryfive.com/whats-new/15-year-anniversary-special-edition-mk4/)

It might be the same car shown on various pages in the build manual (below), if anyone has an idea please let me know.

Thanks

I couldn't find out what the colour was at the time, but i had mine painted in ~2012 Audi silver with extra grain added. It appears to be a match and I love it.

Mercedes Benz code 977, "Crystal Laurit Silver." There are no pigments or color toners to the formula, only a very coarse aluminum and clear binder.

Just throwing this out there for your information. The color Jeff references above is a modern Mercedes color from the early 2000's, and has a more modern metal flake look to it. Nothing wrong with that if that's the look you're going for. I went with Mercedes DB180 "Silbergrau" (silver grey), which is the silver color that Mercedes used through the 50's and 60's, including on the iconic 300SL's of the era. It's a much more vintage-looking silver with no heavy metal flake in it. Here's the recipe and a few photos as a reference, so you can compare. No right or wrong answers here, just (too many) choices. ;)

Looks great John!

To clarify; the original question was what was used…the info in my reply was not a suggestion but actually what the car was painted with.

Thanks Jeff. Completely understand. Was just trying to show the OP another flavor of Mercedes silver from another era.

Thanks, John. Car looks great. Thank you, for providing another option. I like the silvers, for me it is timeless (so is red) and there's a look to it that I can't quite move on from. Sometimes I think they are plain, but most days they seem different from what is expected and are classy (with a bite).

Thanks, Jeff. Really helpful! I like this color....well onto the body seams this weekend. Therapeutic step away from the digital grind.

Stunning! I’m a fan of old school colours.
